Recruitment activity in the City of London may be set to grow after the government outlined its plans to create new jobs.According to business secretary Lord Mandelson, the UK is emerging from the recession with its key industrial strengths intact, unlike in previous downturns. This, he said, means Britain has one of the best environments in the world in which to start and grow business. "Only by growing our economy can decent jobs be created," Lord Mandelson commented. He said this would in turn protect people's living standards and expand the "winners' circle" to those on low and middle incomes. Lord Mandelson added that the government has learned a lot of lessons from the recent financial crisis and will sustain the recovery. His optimism could bode well for those who are currently looking for a new role in London, such as an office job, or a position in sales and administration. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank economist George Buckley has told the Independent that he expects the next set of official economic figures to show that economic output is expanding again.
