People looking for jobs as a business development or account manager may be more attractive to employers if they have a university degree.According to High Fliers Research, more and more businesses in areas such as the City of London are planning to take on a greater number of graduates this year. However, the group noted that this does not mean recent university leavers are set to walk straight into jobs, as recruiters may opt for those who have graduated in previous years. Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers Research, said: "Competition for the remaining vacancies is therefore likely to remain extremely tough." He added that the upturn in graduate recruitment this year is very "encouraging", as there have been "swingeing cuts" in this area over the last two years. This echoes recent assertions from the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, which noted that the selection criteria used by employers is becoming much tougher.
