Consumers who are looking for office and administration jobs in London have been handed good news by a thinktank.According to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR), the British economy expanded by 0.3 per cent between October and December 2009. Although no figures for this period have yet been issued by the Office for National Statistics, the findings would mean that the recession has now come to an end. NIESR also suggested that the rate of growth is accelerating, as a 0.2 per cent increase was recorded in the three months to November 2009. "Evidence of a recovery is starting to emerge," it stated. NIESR added that Britain's gross domestic product fell by 4.8 per cent last year. This, it stated, is the biggest contraction since 1921. The figures are the latest indicator that the UK economy is picking up, which could impact favourably on people's recruitment prospects. Earlier this week, the British Chambers of Commerce said it believes the UK is "on the brink" of leaving recession.
