Economists welcome new employment figuresPeople looking for office and administration jobs in London could potentially have more opportunities for employment.

The Office for National Statistics has just reported that the number of British people who are out of work dropped during the three months to November 2009.

According to George Buckley of Deutsche Bank, this shows that unemployment may have turned a corner.

Indeed, he suggested that the jobs market looks as if it is becoming more resilient.

John Wright, chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, was also upbeat about the latest employment figures.

However, he said this trend needs to continue over the next few months.

"More people than ever before are working part-time and are trying to find full-time employment," he commented.

"For the economy to grow, this needs to be made a reality."

Work and pensions secretary Yvette Cooper added that the findings are very welcome.

She attributed the improvement partly to increased investment in jobs, education and training over recent months.
