 People aged 40-plus who are looking for jobs in London could benefit if lobbying from the CBI is successful.According to the business group, employment agencies help over a million people in the UK to find work. This, it said, means companies can create new positions, such as office and administration jobs, quickly and efficiently. The CBI has therefore urged the government to reconsider introducing new regulations that could increase the cost of using temporary agency workers. "Ministers must not undermine this important means of job creation," said director for employment Katja Hall. She went on to welcome news that unemployment in the UK fell during the three months to November 2009. Ms Hall said the statistics are better than it had expected, a fact it attributed partly to the flexibility of the UK labour market. Official figures showed that unemployment fell by 7,000 between September and November 2009 to 2.46 million.
