Analysts forecast economic growthJobseekers looking for positions in sales recruitment and media sales could be handed positive news later this week.

Economists are widely predicting that the next set of economic figures will show that output went up during the final quarter of 2009.

This would mean that the recession is officially at an end, a development that could bode well for the UK jobs market.

Prime minister Gordon Brown described recent employment figures as "encouraging", as the number of people out of work is down and the number of vacancies has increased.

"In this - the harshest global financial recession since the 1930s - the rate of job losses has been four times lower than if the experience of the 1990s had been repeated," he told the No 10 website.

Chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling has meanwhile told the Times that he is remaining cautious with his predictions until the official figures are released this week.

Optimism about the UK emerging from recession has been building steadily in recent weeks, with the British Chambers of Commerce recently saying it believes the UK is on the brink of economic growth.
