People aged 40-plus seeking jobs in London could be in line to benefit from improving conditions in the jobs market.Figures from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG showed there was an increase in the number of permanent staff placed in work last month. Meanwhile, demand for new workers led to the number of staff vacancies increasing at the fastest rate since mid-2007. Kevin Green, chief executive of REC, has welcomed the findings, saying they show the labour market is now "out of intensive care". However, he warned that the recovery is still fragile and highly susceptible to developments such as regulatory changes. Mr Green insisted that with employers hiring more now than at any time in the last year, the recovery must "not be put at risk" by such reforms. This comes shortly after the REC speculated that the UK's recent emergence from recession could boost employer confidence and lead to greater fluidity in the labour market.
