Jobs market 'becoming more competitive'Graduates who are looking for office and administration jobs in the city of London are entering an extremely competitive marketplace, experts have advised.

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), people with university degrees are increasingly concentrating on boosting their employability skills.

Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment at PwC, stated that recruiters are also placing a much greater emphasis on the overall skills of candidates.

As a result, she believes "the bar has been raised" in terms of the level of competition for jobs.

Ms Stockton has therefore advised people with university degrees not to automatically expect to get a job that meets every one of their requirements.

Speaking to BBC News, she commented: "Graduates entering the market need to be open-minded about locations, about roles and naturally about pay."

This comes shortly after Graduate Prospects said it is seeing definite signs recovery in the graduate employment market, as the number of job advertisements is increasing.
