People looking for 40-plus jobs in the city of London have been advised of the UK's immediate economic prospects.According to Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England, Britain is likely to experience a gradual recovery in economic output. However, he stated that output is not likely to return to levels seen before the global financial crisis for some time. "There are signs that many economies are on the mend, although much uncertainty remains about the likelihood of a sustained rise in real final demand in the world economy as a whole," Mr King commented. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Economic and Social Research has said that between November 2009 and January 2010, the UK economy expanded by 0.4 per cent. The organisation echoed Mr King's assertions that economic output is unlikely to exceed pre-crisis levels in the immediate future, estimating that it should happen in the final quarter of 2012.
