People looking for 40-plus jobs have been encouraged to be flexible with regards to their ideal position.According to The Recruitment Society, many candidates are automatically expecting employers to offer flexible job opportunities. However, the organisation believes that in the current environment, jobseekers should be equally open-minded when it comes to what they expect from a position. "In a market which is difficult and competitive, candidates have a duty to make themselves flexible," said Steve Huxham, chairman of The Recruitment Society. Mr Huxham stated that it is not a "one-way street", meaning that both recruiters and the candidate may need to make certain compromises. He was speaking after a study by the Keep Britain Working campaign group found that many people are having difficulty finding flexible job opportunities. Mr Huxham added that employer confidence will partly determine the level of recruitment activity in Britain over the next few months.
