Older people could be boosting their suitability for 50-plus jobs by increasing their familiarity with the internet.A survey conducted by Dadooda.com, a content networking site, revealed that over-50s are increasingly using the internet to relax and keep their minds active. The survey revealed that shopping, emailing and banking were among the activities that equated to the average over-50 spending up to 26 hours a week online. Neil Stapley, founder of Dadooda.com, thinks this flies in the face of the news that the average 21-year-old is becoming increasingly depressed by the amount of time they spend online. Mr Stapley, who was eager to highlight the benefits of increased internet use, said: "Surfing the web has positive implications for the over-50s health." At a January 2010 Age UK event, Harriet Harman, the minister for women and equality, was eager to highlight the emergence of the "wellderly", noting the role they can play in the economy.
