Recruitment agencies 'to get their say on AWDRecruitment agencies specialising in 40+ jobs will be able to have their say on the implementation of the agency workers directive (AWD).

When it is put in place, the EU-wide legislation will give temporary workers, including those in business development jobs, the same rights as permanent employees - provided they have remained in the same position for 12 weeks.

Minister for business innovation and skills Pat McFadden has told the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) that the whole industry will play a role in the practical implementation of the AWD.

Consequently, the REC has drawn up a list of five issues which it says require clarification prior to the legislation coming into effect.

For instance, it said that guidance is needed over bonus payments, as some of these will need to be extended to temporary staff, including people in 40+ jobs.

"Our immediate priority is to work with [the] government on the official guidance document that will underpin the regulations," said director of external relations for the REC Tom Hadley.ADNFCR-3012-ID-19615506-ADNFCR
