The future of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) could hinge on its ability to attract high-quality staff in 40+ jobs in the City of London.
In an exclusive interview with Recruiter magazine, the state-controlled financial institution's director of group resourcing Susan Bor explained that its return to strength in the future is reliant upon its recruitment efforts.
For instance, Ms Bor said that if the bank is to be able to succeed on its own without being funded by taxpayers in the coming years, it is essential for it to "acquire and retain really good quality people".
She added: "At this juncture how we deal with candidates, how we get them across the line, has never been more critical."
Consequently, staff in 40+ jobs could be set to see the bank advertising a range of office jobs with recruitment agencies in the near future.
Her comments come after BBC News revealed it could be up to five years before banks such as RBS start to repay money borrowed from taxpayers.
