Janet Street-Porter has called for women in mature aged jobs to be given equal pay and pensions to their male colleagues.
In a column for the Daily Mail, the media personality claimed the fact that there is still a gap in earning between men and women - including those in mature aged jobs - is evidence that the government does not really care about females.
And she pointed out that the same disparity exists for ladies in mature aged jobs who are nearing their retirement.
Ms Street Porter said: "As for our old age, women who retire this year will have a pension that's around two-thirds of their male counterparts. Some progress."
According to the columnist, this gap is inevitable given the lack of representation for women in parliament.
Her comments come after figures published by the Office for National Statistics revealed that the gender pay gap fell between 2008 and 2009, with women now earning an average of 22 per cent less than men.
