People looking for 40-plus jobs have been handed cause for optimism by a Bank of England official.According to Andrew Sentance of the Monetary Policy Committee, the UK's economic turnaround in recent months has been encouraging. Speaking to CNBC, he acknowledged that there is still a chance of the UK experiencing a double-dip recession, Reuters reports. However, he said he does not expect this to be the case. Britain's economy expanded by 0.3 per cent during the final quarter of 2009, putting an end to the longest recession in the country's history. The Bank of England is aiming to support the recovery by leaving interest rates on hold at 0.5 per cent. Mr Sentance's comments come after official figures revealed that unemployment in the UK has dropped for the third month in a row. Work and pensions secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed this development, but said the economy is "not out of the woods yet". Posted by Daniel Frost
