28 per cent of UK businesses 'support CameronA new survey of business leaders has found that nearly one-third of human resources (HR) professionals favour the Conservatives in the run-up to the May 6th general election.

According to Personal Career Management's survey of more than 250 HR workers, some 28 per cent believe that David Cameron is the potential prime minister most suited to help the ongoing recovery of British business in the wake of the recession.

In contrast, just 13 per cent of UK business employees want Labour and Gordon Brown to retain power, with 14 per cent saying they would like to see Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats lead the country.

In their recently published pre-election manifesto, the Conservatives pledged to scrap a one per cent increase in National Insurance contributions for workers earning over £20,000 proposed by the current government, labelling the prospective legislation as a "tax on jobs".

This move attracted the support of many chief executives from several of Britain's major companies, such as Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's.
