Available vacancies for people searching for permanent and temporary employment increased for the seventh consecutive month in April, new figures have revealed. The latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs released today (May 5th), shows that the amount of permanent jobs on the market rose slightly throughout last month, while the number of available temporary jobs hit its highest level since January 2008. According to the report, employment figures remained strong in April following a 13-year high in March. The figure for the amount of people in permanent employment increased for the ninth month in succession which is a clear sign that the British job sector is recovering well following the low-point of the recession. Kevin Green, REC chief executive, said the first test of the new government would be to nurture the "slowly improving but fragile jobs market". "The incoming government must address two immediate priorities: stimulating jobs growth and reducing expenditure without creating a public sector recession through shedding thousands of pounds," he added.
