FSB issues World Cup business guidelinesThe Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has today (June 1st) released guidelines for littler firms on how to avoid major disruption to their workplace during this summer's World Cup.

Along with Abbey Legal Protection, the FSB urged employers and employees to work together in order to enjoy the month-long competition - which gets underway on June 11th - without significantly affecting business productivity and internal relations.

The main points of the advice are based around two categories - the first being on those employees who have requested time off during the tournament in advance and the second offering tips on how to deal with sickness or unexpected absences.

It is vital that any requests for time off are made early and dealt with swiftly in order to minimise the impact that it will have on their firm.

The FSB also pointed out that two of England's three group matches - the first of which is on Saturday June 12th - do not clash with regular British working hours, which should also keep absences down in comparison to previous tournaments.

Mike Cherry, policy chairman of the FSB, said: "Both employers and their staff need to look at celebrating the World Cup realistically."
