FSB supports regulation cutsThe Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) yesterday (June 3rd) praised the government's plans to reduce the amount of regulation currently imposed on firms in the UK.

Business secretary Vince Cable outlined the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition's proposal to cut regulatory laws, which he said had been "choking off enterprise for too long".

And this is positive news for the 4.8 million smaller firms around the UK, the FSB said. Recent research by the organisation found that over one-quarter of the companies they represent - 27 per cent - believed that regulation was stunting their ability to grow following the recession.

Mr Cable has announced that the government will now impose a one in, one out strategy on regulation in order to reduce its burden on expansion, as well as forming a new panel that will lead this drive.

FSB policy chairman Mike Cherry said: "Regulation has long been stifling business growth so these plans to put an end to the excessive legislation that choke small businesses is welcome news."
