Report: Job placements rose again in MayA new study released today (June 9th) shows that permanent job placements in the UK increased for the tenth month in succession in May.

According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs, the demand for staff across all sectors saw a rise throughout the month, with temporary employee placements also going up.

This is in correspondence with recruitment agencies' assertions that the number of vacancies remained strong in May, despite being slightly weaker than the figures recorded in April.

Salaries for full-time members of staff also increased in May, which is the seventh consecutive month this has happened.

However, the report stated that the availability of people looking to find permanent jobs decreased for the first time in more than two years.

Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, said: "The June report on jobs shows that job vacancies continue to grow but at a slower rate than previous months."

Meanwhile, a Cities for Centres report published earlier in the week stated that the government should prioritise private sector growth before making cuts in the private sector.
