New research released yesterday (June 9th) shows that many companies in the UK are planning to offer their employees increased benefits over the next year.According to Kingston Smith W1's latest Employee Benefits Survey, some 98 per cent of all businesses throughout the country now offer their staff benefits over and above their basic salary and holiday entitlement, a rise of eight per cent on the total for one year previously. And this trend looks set to continue heading into 2011, with the majority of bosses indicating that their employee renumeration packages will be improved further in the coming months. Mandy Merron, partner at Kingston Smith W1, said that the effects of the recession in 2009 led to plenty of businesses freezing or even cutting pay but many decided to then increase their employee benefits so as to limit the potential damage on workforce morale. Meanwhile, widespread job losses are expected in the UK's public sector due to the government's commitment to reduce the spending bill by more than £6 billion before April 2011.
