FSB urges government to help small businessesChancellor George Osborne has been urged by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to tend to the needs of Britain's minor companies ahead of next week's emergency budget.

The coalition government is set to outline its new budget on June 22nd and it is expected to include widespread spending cuts across all sectors on top of the already-announced £6.2 billion worth of savings to be seen in the public arena prior to April 2011.

However, the FSB has written to the chancellor to implore him not to risk stunting the growth of the nation's small businesses and instead inspire confidence in the market for the future through allowing these firms to innovate, grow and employ.

The FSB recently applauded the government's proposals to slash the amount of legislative red tape surrounding businesses in the UK, but now states that it must go further with measures such as not majorly increasing the Capital Gains Tax and limiting National Insurance contributions for new companies.
