Those looking for part time office jobs 'could head to the seaside'Anyone looking for employment - such as those searching for part time office jobs - could find themselves heading towards seaside towns, if new research is to be believed.

A report from the Sheffield Hallam University claims the British tourism sector in costal areas currently employs more people than the motor, aerospace, steel or pharmaceutical sectors.

Professor Steve Fothergill, from the institution's centre for regional economic and social research, led the team and said: "[The] industry remains a major employer. The new government should make every effort to ensure that the industry delivers its full potential in the coming years."

Despite recent reports that opportunities in seaside resorts are declining, this study shows growth in the sector as well as an ability to adapt to the changing economic climate, added Peter Hampson, director of the British Resorts and Destinations Association.

Meanwhile, people living in council accommodation may be pleased to hear they will receive incentives if they move house to gain employment elsewhere after new government plans were announced.
