FSB praises government's SME-friendly websiteThe Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) yesterday (July 1st) praised the government for its creation of a new website for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The new multimedia development is intended to offer the public the opportunity to nominate which laws and regulations they would like to see abolished in order to help business growth in the post-recession period.

Last month, business secretary Vince Cable said that the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance was determined to end the "deluge of new regulations" presided over by the previous administration which he said had been "choking off enterprise for too long".

During this address, it was announced that a new Cabinet committee - which held its first meeting yesterday - was to be established in order to help do this.

This new website is a further step towards reducing the amount of red tape and Mike Cherry, policy chairman of the FSB, applauded its introduction.

"We urge our members to log on to the website to help reduce the bureaucracy faced by small firms," he said.
