Businesses in the City of London are now feeling more upbeat about the remainder of 2010 as spending plans have improved on this time six months ago, new research has found. According to the latest Confederation of British Industry (CBI)/KPMG survey released yesterday (July 1st), more than half - 53 per cent - of all firms in the capital are feeling positive about their future business prospects, an increase of six per cent on the corresponding period at the start of the year. Companies' investment plans are also more positive than they were half a year ago, with nearly one-third - 31 per cent - indicating that they plan to raise their level of spending on training and recruitment. However, there is concern among the business community in London about the new 50p rate of income tax, with more than half stating that it could stop firms from choosing the capital as their base in the future. Research conducted earlier this year by Astbury Martin showed that there was a 120 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of City vacancies available in London in the first quarter of 2010.
