An expert has said that the government should now clear up any confusion over any plans to phase out the default retirement age (DRA).Research released by Aviva earlier this year showed that some 68 per cent of all adults in Britain - 33 million - are now prepared to work beyond their current standard retirement point, while one in ten of the 1,200 people questioned believed that they would never stop being in employment. A further third - 31 per cent - would like to retire between the ages of 61 and 65 and 29 per cent see themselves finishing work permanently between 66 and 70. However, public understanding of the DRA is currently unclear among both staff and employers and Michelle Mitchell of Age UK commented that following its announcement that it would be conducting further consultation on the issue, the government must now set out a clear timetable to end this speculation.
