Government advised on how to help SMEsThe government has been advised on how to help Britain's businesses - particularly SMEs - to expand after the recession.

The Penfold review, which was published yesterday (July 5th), offers several tips and pieces of advice over how and where the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition can encourage fiscal growth.

After being established in order to discover what problems businesses face in the post-recession period, the report has found that developers, investors and companies would benefit from resources being freed up due to not being used through restrictive regulatory charges.

Minister for business Mark Prisk said that "innovative solutions" are required that will simplify the way in which the government can deliver benefits for the country's business sector, as these will save "time and money and encourage growth".

Proposals in the document include the simplification of the planning and consents environment and offering developers access to accurate information.

Meanwhile, business secretary Vince Cable announced last month that the government would be implementing a 'one in, one out' strategy towards regulation from now on.
