Report: Permanent employment figures rise againA new report has shown that the number of people gaining permanent employment increased again over the course of last month.

According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC and KPMG Report on Jobs survey, the hiring of new permanent staff remains on its upward trajectory, but the rate has slowed down over the course of recent months.

On a scale where anything above 50 indicates no change, the amount of full-time placements was 60.7 last month, in comparison to a figure of 61.3 in May - the lowest total posted since January.

However, despite this decline, Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, commented that the statistics are still positive for the UK's job sector as they display the fact that it is continuing to return to health following the global economic downturn.

"This is an encouraging sign the jobs market is stable," he said.

Meanwhile, deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has pledged to help SMEs to grow after the recession by cutting the amount of legislative red tape they face.
