Gender pay gap 'unlikely to close soon'The gender pay gap in employment sectors such as sales management is still a long way off from closing completely, an expert has said.

According to a spokesperson from the Trades Union Congress (TUC), despite the undoubted fact that definite progress in this field has been made over the last forty years in the City of London and throughout the country, this issue is unlikely to be totally resolved in the near future.

The official went on to state that while females have been outperforming males in education for more than a decade, this has not yet been accurately translated into the pay structures of many of the country's employers.

A report conducted by Friends Provident and the Future Foundation that was published earlier this year stated that a third of the British population believe that gender equality in salaries will not be achieved by 2020.

And the TUS expert said that this can only change if the "veil of secrecy" surrounding pay is removed altogether.
