Research: SME firms feeling positiveNew research released today (July 26th) shows that most SME companies in the City of London and across Britain are feeling optimistic about current market trading conditions.

According to Bibby's latest Business Factors Index, the confidence of firms throughout the nation improved in the second quarter of the year, even though output during this same timeframe decreased.

Some 72 per cent of smaller business operations in the UK responded saying they felt positive about the coming months, a fact which Bibby attributes to high sentiment still being maintained from the month of March when productivity hit its peak this year.

Indeed, almost a fifth - 17 per cent - of Britain's SME companies believe their firm to be performing well, with some even indicating that they had benefited from the recession.

Meanwhile, Andrew Hubbard, past president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, commented last week that complex tax laws in the UK are serving to destabilise SME growth following the recession.
