SME businesses in the City of London and across the country are not yet maximising the potential income stream of the Olympic Games, which will be held in the capital city in 2012.That is according to Lloyds Banking Group, which has recently urged such firms to be more proactive in searching for the many - and potentially lucrative - contract opportunities that are available in the country over the next two years or so. The financier stated that the London 2012 Organising Committee is currently in the process of gaining more than £700 million worth of services and goods in preparation for the sporting extravaganza, which could benefit thousands of companies up and down the nation. However, many of the smaller businesses that could be suitable for such investments remain unaware or unsure of the benefits the Games will bring to the UK economy, Lloyds added. In related news, Martin Lyne, SME marketing director of Everything Everywhere, commented recently that strong internal communication is essential for a smaller firm to be successful.
