| CIPD: Available worker hours on the rise following recession |

 Employees in roles such as accountancy jobs in the City of London are now able to work more hours again following the adverse effects of the global economic downturn which caused worker hours to fall throughout the capital and the rest of the country.That is according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD's) latest work audit - entitled Working Hours in the Recession - which was published yesterday (August 2nd). The report, which analyses official data from both the UK government and the European Union, found that there has been a big shift towards part-time working as opposed to full-time roles in the aftermath of the global economic downturn. It states that the number of men working more than 45 hours per week falling by ten per cent over this period, but maintained that summer 2009 represented the "low point in working time" as the nation's jobs market continues to recover after the recession. Meanwhile, research released recently by HSBC found that more than half - 55 per cent - of the country's older workforce expect to never be in a position where they can retire fully from work.
