Switching careers 'may be the best way to get a new job'People seeking jobs in the City of London might be best advised to switch careers in order to take full advantage of the country's more buoyant jobs sector.

That is the view of Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, who has stated that in being more flexible in terms of what roles they are willing to apply for and fulfil, jobseekers will give themselves a much better opportunity of getting a position that is suited to their strengths and abilities.

Mr Huxham's comments came after the publication of the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation/KPMG report on jobs, which found that July saw a further increase in appointments of both permanent and temporary staff across all sectors.

However, it also revealed that the rate of growth in both of these fields slowed down in comparison to previous months, meaning that people wanting to find a job may wish to take a slightly different career path in order to maximise their chances of doing so, the expert added.
