The government must do more to aid businesses such as SME firms in the City of London financially, an expert has stated.According to Thomas Parry, research manager at the Forum of Private Businesses (FPB), such organisations are in real need of fiscal support in the aftermath of the global economic downturn as well as enterprise owners needing increased levels of flexibility. "Businesses would like to see more done to ensure finance is there for when they require capital to grow," he said. Mr Parry's comments came after the publication of the latest Markit/CIPS Services PMI, which was released last week (August 4th). This data revealed that growth within the services sector in the UK is continuing to lose momentum at the beginning of the third quarter of the year, but also states that confidence among business leaders is expanding. The FPB official concluded that the outlook for lending to firms is improving as there are "positive signs" banks are now becoming more willing to grant funding. Posted by Daniel Frost
