REC calls on employers to recognise female talentEmployers that may offer roles such as finance jobs in London and across the rest of the UK must take measures to improve their treatment of female workers, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has stated.

According to Steve Hyde, chair of the REC's marketing, media and creative sector, there are indications that "current working practices in the industry do not provide sufficient flexibility for women to accommodate both a developing career and manage a family".

Mr Hyde's comments came in support of the Women in the Creative Industry report published recently by Skillset, which offers managers a snapshot of the imbalances faced by females in this workplace while arguing that they are both under-represented in senior roles and underpaid in comparison to their male counterparts.

"We need to look at how the industry can become more flexible and at the same time maintain high standards," concluded the expert from the REC, which has more than 8,000 corporate members.
