SMEs 'being affected by poor relations between banks and government' Small and medium-sized enterprises offering roles such as finance jobs in London and throughout the rest of Britain are not being helped by the ongoing stand-off between the government and the country's major banks.

That is according to Edward Rimmer, UK chief executive of specialist invoice company Bibby Financial Services, who has said that the nation's financial community must not allow their long-term goals and objectives to be affected by this situation.

"I welcome anything that might get the ball rolling in terms of business funding," the expert stated.

He went on to say that the current stalemate between banks and the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance "is not doing Britain's small businesses any favours".

Mr Rimmer was speaking after the publication of a report conducted by the British Bankers' Association, which stated that having credit profiles is now a "pointless exercise" for many smaller firms.

Meanwhile, the London Stock Exchange stated last week that the government must do all it can in order to help SMEs stimulate the country's recovery following the downturn.
