Workers in accountancy jobs could be set to benefit from new measures introduced by the government.According to employment relations minister Edward Davey, the plans aim to offer workers more flexibility in their job and make it easier for them to balance work and family life. The proposals mean parents of children under the age of 18 will be able to request flexible working from April 2011, which is set to benefit some 300,000 Britons. Furthermore, a consultation is to be launched in the near future to investigate ways to offer flexible working to all employees, as well as consider a new system of parental leave. Mr Davey went on to explain there will be more "ambitious" plans announced later this year, but "these interim measures will help us learn valuable lessons and are an important first step". The news comes after the state revealed employers will now legally have to abide by legislation introduced under its 2010 Equality Act. Posted by James Strang
