People seeking 50-plus jobs have been given a boost by the news that some 35,000 people will be recruited to deal with the upcoming census in England and Wales.Older citizens who find themselves without a position, or on the lookout for a temporary role, could be ideal for the jobs. A census is due to be completed in the countries next year, with thousands of staff required to gather and process data. Some 25 million households will take part in the population study, with the positions on offer spread across the country according to the amount of people living in various regions. People will have the option of completing the form online, but those who do not will be visited by one of the new recruits, as failure to adhere to the regulations is a criminal offence. The last UK census was held in April 2001 and observed trends relating to not only population, but also age, religion and language. Posted by Daniel Frost
