People seeking jobs for those aged 40-plus could follow the lead of younger members of society and demand information from employers.Research by Delotte found 95 per cent of respondents at the start of their careers would like bosses to tell them what they are looking for in staff from the beginning. Meanwhile, four in ten who had enjoyed contact with between two and four employers in recent times said they felt they had more of an idea what was required from companies. Those looking for 40-plus jobs may find they are at an advantage as extra experience could help in the quest to satisfy a boss. Older workers who do not feel they have the experience to make this judgment might instead wish to take a leaf out of their juniors' book by questioning potential employers themselves. The National Apprenticeship Service recently noted those in the market for 50-plus jobs are increasingly trying to impress firms, with a record number signing up to learn new skills on apprenticeships this year.
