Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the City of London and throughout the rest of the country are set to benefit from new guidelines regarding business finance. That is according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which has stated that the 17 commitments made by the specialist Bank Taskforce - a body which comprises of officials from several financial institutions around the country - should improve the current level of communication between firms and lenders. These measures will help to "restore the trust between small businesses and lenders", which has been negatively affected by the effects of the global economic downturn, the organisation said. In particular, the FSB is pleased with the taskforce's recommendation that there should be a regular independent survey conducted to investigate the amount that is being loaned to small companies, which will "help to end the confusion on lending levels and the conflicting reports that arise".
