The way in which IT consultancy roles are offered in the City of London and throughout the rest of the UK may change in the near future, if the findings of new research are anything to go by.According to a study conducted by Cisco - which questioned 2,600 workers and IT professionals from 13 countries around the globe - some 60 per cent of employees in this sector feel that they do not have to be based in an office in order to be productive. Therefore, more organisations may consider the option of offering their employees flexible working practices, especially as the same percentage of respondents indicated that they would switch to a lower paid position elsewhere if it meant they could have more control over their working hours and style. This comes after comments by Chartered Management Institute official Mike Petrook, who said that many workers now value the opportunity to develop their skills as highly as their wages.
