Employers offering roles such as accountancy jobs in the City of London have been urged to work alongside the government in order to end the period of pay inequality between men and women in the UK.The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) yesterday (November 2nd) spoke out in support of the Fawcett Society after the campaign group stated that now is the time for female managers and businesses, as well as the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance, to take action against this trend. This follows on from the views of many analysts that the comprehensive spending review could hit women twice as hard as men and the CMI has called on David Cameron and his government to do more to force pay equality in workplaces across the nation. Ruth Spellman - chief executive of the CMI, which has more than 86,000 members - commented that figures published by the Fawcett Society showing that, on average, men are being paid for the whole working year while women are awarded the equivalent up to November 2nd are an "outrage".
