CBI: SMEs must go greenSmall and medium-sized enterprises (SMES) offering roles such as finance jobs in London must take full advantage of the low-carbon opportunities open to them following the recession.

That is according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and the Lloyds Banking Group, which have urged such organisations to take a proactive stance to developing green goods and services while also improving their own energy efficiency.

The two organisations made these comments prior to the CBI's Climate Change Summit, which takes place tomorrow (November 17th 2010) and will see speakers such as Chris Huhne and Richard Lambert explaining the benefits of eco-friendliness to SMEs.

Low-carbon goods are expected to be worth around £4 trillion by 2015 as the world readjusts following the recession, meaning there may never have been a better time for forward-thinking SMEs to heed this advice.

This comes after the Federation of Small Businesses stated that such firms will struggle to adopt auto-enrolment pension schemes.
