Employers offering office-based roles such as finance jobs in London should be willing to alter their benefit schemes for members of staff in order to retain their best workers following the recession. That is according to Jarrod Parker, head of consultants and actuaries at Alexander Forbes, who has said that this could be crucial for organisations in the wake of the downturn as they seek to keep their employees happy, even though many will be unable to offer improved financial terms or bonuses. "The benefit choice needs to be there," he said. Mr Parker added that tailoring benefit schemes for individuals or departments within a company is important as "you're never going to get to an employee benefit programme that ticks all the boxes for an employee". Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted by Hewitt Associates found that 43 per cent of firms across all sectors in the UK now offer flexible working options to their staff. Posted by James Strang
