Employers 'need to be flexible on worker engagement' Organisations offering office roles such as accountancy jobs need to be willing to adapt and alter their approach to employee engagement depending on the individual in question.

That is according to Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, who has said that a "one-size-fits-all" strategy in terms of motivational techniques will be ineffective, as different workers have different needs and requirements.

For example, Mr Flaxton explained that the majority of businesses are likely to have a group of staff who are "very self-motivated and probably don't require a great deal of managing", as they are fully aware of their responsibilities and are able to get on with their role independently.

However, he added there are others who are less motivated and therefore need to be "managed on a more hands-on basis".

This comes after the Work Foundation recently published a report which found that human resources experts now place too much emphasis on employee engagement techniques.
