The government has announced a review will be conducted into private sector growth, which could boost the number of business development jobs available.George Osborne, chancellor of the exchequer, together with business secretary Vince Cable revealed on Monday (November 29th 2010) that an investigation will take place to determine measures to combat barriers to company expansion. Mr Osborne said that the growth review represents the government's drive to "improve British competitiveness". He stated: "By working closely with business and industry in this intensive programme of work, [the] government can make sure that Britain is open for business." The investigation is expected to be completed in time for the 2011 Budget and departments are being required to submit their action plans on business development before then. This move could encourage the creation of more business development jobs in London, with the Office for National Statistics revealing last month that the employment rate has been improving recently.
