Females seeking office-based employment opportunities such as accountancy jobs in the City of London need to take a more proactive approach in order to secure their ideal position in the aftermath of the recession. That is according to Piya Khanna, chief executive coach at career development firm Change to Succeed, who believes that women may have to work harder to get their dream job, as they must "take more responsibility for their careers" than their male counterparts. Ms Khanna's opinion is based largely on the fact that she feels "the majority of decision makers are men and people tend to hire people like themselves". This comes after the Fatherhood Institute's Fairness in Families index revealed last week (December 2nd 2010) that the UK is ranked 15th out of 21 countries in terms of equal pay The expert added that this is reflected in the trend which sees "fewer and fewer women in the higher echelons of organisations".
