Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offering office-based roles such as accountancy jobs are having their ability to export goods negatively affected by the amount of legislative red tape still in existence in the UK.That is according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which has published a new report detailing the fact that 33 per cent of such firms find bureaucracy to be the main factor that inhibits them when exporting products. Therefore, despite the fact that the government has pinpointed this area as crucial to boosting the country's recovery in the aftermath of the economic downturn, many firms are being restricted through rules that are not strictly necessary, the organisation noted. Mike Cherry, policy chairman at the body, remarked: "With the UK economy in fragile recovery, a number of well targeted initiatives could be just the ticket that small business exporters." This comes after Phil McCabe, spokesman for the Forum for Private Business, said there is a "struggle ahead" for the nation's smaller organisations. Posted by Daniel Frost
