IT recruitment market 'to improve in 2011'The market for recruitment IT consultancy sales and other jobs in the field is set to pick up again in 2011.

According to Gerry McLaughlin, of news and advice site ITContractor.com, the IT contractor market has already begun to pick up, with the permanent jobs market set to improve soon.

He explained that many of the big banks and institutions are now vying for IT staff again.

The expected cuts to the workforce in the public sector are also predicted by the expert to be cancelled out by an increase in recruitment for private sector workers.

"2011 looks as if it will be a bumper year for those that work in the IT industry and already, so soon after the downturn, there are signs of looming skills shortages in some areas," Mr McLaughlin explained.

A recent study from IT Job Board found that 46 per cent of companies planning to recruit in 2011 are looking for workers with .net skills.  ADNFCR-3012-ID-800315438-ADNFCR
