 Medium-sized businesses offering office-based roles such as finance jobs in London should be given more help from the government in the coming months, an expert has said.According to a spokesman for the Forum of Private Business, there is quite a lot of optimism among such organisations about their prospects for 2011, but the Conservative-Liberal Democrat alliance could still do more to aid them in the aftermath of the worldwide economic downturn. The specialist stated that "the only problem that appears to be developing is the cost of running a business", as the price of fuel, utilities and raw materials for manufacturers all appear to be increasing. "We think that is one thing the government needs to keep a very close eye on, because inflationary pressures could mean that it could impact the economy," he warned. Meanwhile, the Federation of Small Businesses stated recently that 70 per cent of all small firms across the UK expect the VAT rise to negatively affect them this year. Posted by Daniel Frost
